thoroughly enjoyed this.

I remember a dinner conversation, late last century, would you allow a memory chip to be placed in your brain to give you access to a superhuman memory. There were around 10 people there (all Cambridge graduates but largely historians) and I think I was the only one who said yes. And I was enthusiastic.

Always had a terrible memory (and of course it's getting worse).

I understand the reluctance to allow our brains to be connected in ways that would give us “superhuman” capabilities. However, I have also read some pretty compelling arguments that, unless we are able to do so, humans will fail to keep up with AI and will eventually become superfluous.
