I remember a dinner conversation, late last century, would you allow a memory chip to be placed in your brain to give you access to a superhuman memory. There were around 10 people there (all Cambridge graduates but largely historians) and I think I was the only one who said yes. And I was enthusiastic.
Always had a terrible memory (and of course it's getting worse).

I understand the reluctance to allow our brains to be connected in ways that would give us “superhuman” capabilities. However, I have also read some pretty compelling arguments that, unless we are able to do so, humans will fail to keep up with AI and will eventually become superfluous.

As an 87 year old man. Would be delighted to have better recall, not lose words and remember names.
I'll take my computer/brain interface as soon as it's ready.
Absolutely amazing. Great reporting!
An awesome piece, inspiring with a view of what is going to be at a time when most people live and think of what has been. Thanks!
